Greek Silver fraction
« on: August 16, 2022, 03:52:03 pm »
Hi - thanks for looking! I got this small silver fraction measuring 8mm and weighing 0.8g. in a lot of Greek coins from a very reputable dealer. I think the obverse features a god or hero facing right (of course, I might simply have it rotated 90 degrees!), but the reverse remains a mystery to me. It almost looks like a crude rabbit with loopy ears, but perhaps it’s a sea creature with claws extended before it, or something completely different. Any suggestions or guidance to identify it would be greatly appreciated!
