Mosaic glass inlay
« on: December 27, 2019, 04:47:20 pm »
Hello,

I did some research about these pices of ancient art. This seems to be Egyptian mosaic glass inlay produced between 1st century BC - 1st centuty AD. This piece is about 20mm in diameter. What I can't find, is the purpose of this type of art. What kind of mossic it was? Flour? Wall? Table?

Does anyone know?

Regards,

Beautiful piece, unfortunately I can't help as to it's purpose.  Reminds me of the millefiori beads

Hi,

This is so like a small fragment that I posted a number of years ago.:

Nice to see your larger piece.

Very nice item.

Probably the insert from a round fibula or piece of harness gear.
