Republican-Augustus Mule

Hi. I recently bought what looks like a mule combining the reverse of a republican denarius of antonius balbus and on the obverse the bare head of augustus. Has anyone seen this combination before? I pretty sure its a cast  fake but I dont understand why anyone would go to the trouble of creating a fake mule! Any help would be much appreciated. PS It was only a fiver at a coin fair and the guy wasn't sure about it either so I thought i'd take a risk!
