Is This Bronze Disease?

(1/1)

Virgil H:
So, I was photographing some coins to put in my gallery. Here is one that I recently got in a lot. Are those green spots bronze disease? I have never had a coin that had it to my knowledge, but this one worries me.

Thanks,
Virgil

Ron C2:
Does the green flake off easily as a powder with a sharp wooden  toothpick?

If not, probably not bd.

Virgil H:
Thanks, Ron. It does not easily flake off. Possibly traces of old patina or encrustations, this one looks like it may have been fairly harshly cleaned.

Joe Sermarini:
Bronze disease is like dust. If it is bronze disease, you can easily brush it off the surface, or pick it out of a pit. Unfortunately, it comes back quickly. Coming back is the real confirmation.

Virgil H:
Thanks, I don't think it is BD at this point. It does not come off easily.
