Counter token XVIII century

(1/1)

Gianluca G:
Hello everyone I wanted to bring to your attention this German counter token that I managed to identify .. I wanted to ask you the reference years of the 18th century indicate that this token is in commemoration of that period or that it was actually created in the 18th century and therefore is an ancient token?  Thanks so much for the explanation

shanxi:
You can find the obverse of this token already listed in a book from 1840.

https://books.google.de/books?id=jPplAAAAcAAJ&pg=PA130&lpg=PA130&dq=%22GLVCK+AVF+DEM+HARZ%22&source=bl&ots=DREUMl6sSO&sig=ACfU3U1Adr_Tb-Zr3lY49kQQnih0a94vqg&hl=de&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj8uLXRzdr4AhVFiv0HHbtEDp0Q6AF6BAgFEAM#v=onepage&q=%22GLVCK%20AVF%20DEM%20HARZ%22&f=false

The book mentions that it was created by C. F. Schmidt in 1780-1785

and with your reverse in a book from 1828:
https://books.google.de/books?id=QdUUAAAAQAAJ&pg=PA371&lpg=PA371&dq=%22GLVCK+AVF+DEM+HARZ%22&source=bl&ots=rEvL_07uP9&sig=ACfU3U1tQA6IuylqpVwYUX7c_SG3_86DTA&hl=de&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj8uLXRzdr4AhVFiv0HHbtEDp0Q6AF6BAgEEAM#v=onepage&q=%22GLVCK%20AVF%20DEM%20HARZ%22&f=false

So it's seems to be that old.

djmacdo:
A question is whether it is original or a modern cast?  There seems to be suspicious filing on the edge and a peculiar raised rim in places.  What does the edge look like?  Any seam marks?  What is the metal?
