Simmurray's Gallery
« on: February 18, 2020, 05:02:56 pm »
Hi all,

I have been struggling to find time for collecting over the last couple of years but hopefully I will find more time now and to start with I will neaten up my gallery in the next couple of weeks but before I do I thought I would share a link to my new Allectus AE Quinarius. Camulodunum mint. IMP C ALLECTVS PF AVG, radiate, cuirassed bust right / VIRTVS AVG, galley rowing left. Mintmark QC. RIC 128.

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=3054&pos=1

My photography may not have improved but I like the obverse bust on this coin, struggled to get a decent portrait of Allectus but pretty pleased with this one. Some slight damage to the coin but thought it was still a very nice coin

Thanks
Steve

Hi all,

I have a number of new additions to add hopefully in the near future but this is a Pannonian Celts Kugelwange type I have been cleaning in recent weeks and now added to my gallery - https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=3085&pos=4

Thanks

I’ll have a read of tomorrow, thank you for sharing as I am very interested in knowing the background of this and other Illyrian coins.

Also expecting some coins from Syracuse and Parthia in the coming weeks

Thanks
Steve

Thanks Joe, it’s one of the coins that got me in to collecting but never owned one. Glad to have finally picked one up and for it to still have a fair amount of detail is just a bonus as many of them seem to be heavily worn.

I saw this one in that auction, glad you got it. I bid on another Republican coin, but didn't get it. I did get two others, a Pergamon and an Ephesus Roman Provincial, though. Beautiful coin.
