Trebizond ID confirmation
« on: November 12, 2017, 07:30:20 am »
Hi all,

Just to confirm, are both of these coins of Michael of Trebizond? Sorry for the poor quality of the photos - these coins aren't mine, so I cannot provide better pics (or a photo of the obverse of the first coin).

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can see the X over M marking for Michael to the left on the reverse.

The broken one looks a bit doubtful but maybe it's just the soft photo.

Thanks for the info! Would you say the other one looks alright? I’m trying to learn more about these types!

The two coins may be from the same die, or maybe they're cast copies.
Hard to say without decent photos, which may be deliberate.

Hi all,

As promised, managed to get photos which are a bit better so that the coin's features can be seen a bit more clearly (only for one of the coins, however). Thoughts?

Kind regards,

Trapezunt.
