Decius/Etruscus/Hostilian (?) from Anazarbus or Tarsus (?)
« on: August 20, 2021, 05:50:50 pm »
Dear all,

found this interesting piece (whereas in bad condition).

AE 37, 22.52 gm.
Obv.: 3 persons seated, no legends left
Rv.: Cilicarch crown (?)

The latter is the interesting part. While the obverse looks quite similar to the three seated emperors (Decius, Etruscus, Hostilian) coins from Anazarbus (Ziegler 751 and Ziegler 771), the reverse seems to be a clear indication that the coin is actually from Tarsus because of the Cilicarch crown. Also, the size of 37 mm rather would indicate Tarsus.

However, I could not find such a coin for Tarsus.

Probably, I am just simply overlooking something.

Thus, any help is highly appreciated.

Best
