great read joe.  tks.  have to go back and look real carefully to see if there's mention of the other varieties of Alexander's depiction on Ptolemaic coins of Ptolemy I such as the small bronzes that show Alexander with long hair and beautifully rendered wearing the mitre and ammon horn.
