Possibly Judaean?
« on: March 06, 2022, 04:38:40 pm »
Dear friends of ancient coins!

The picture of this coin I got from a friend. Can anyone help me?

AE 14, 0.58g, 14mm

It looks like a Judaean type but it is very thin.

Any hint is welcome
Jochen

Not lead. Very thin billon, copper or bronze.

North Africa, I believe.  While the six pointed star, the Shield of David, is now almost exclusively associated with Judaism, until relatively recently it was also used in Christian and Muslim contexts frequently.

I think this is a late Mamluk coin.
