Hello.
Please let me know if you have some info about the semis from Carteia, Spain under Roman rule. According to some sources, the name L. MARC (Lucius Marcius?) on the coin belongs to quaestor, lowest-ranking regular magistrate in ancient Rome and probably in Carteia under Roman rule, whose traditional responsibility was the treasury.
Please let me know if L. MARC (Lucius Marcius?) related to Lucius Marcius Philippus (consul in 91 BC), or Lucius Marcius Philippus (consul in 56 BC), or Lucius Marcius Philippus (consul in 38 BC).
Only Lucius Marcius Philippus (consul in 38 BC) related to Spain. By 35 BC, he was appointed the proconsular governor of one of the two provinces of Hispania. After serving there for two years, he returned to Rome, where he was awarded a triumph which he celebrated on April 27, 33 BC for his actions while governor.
Unfortunately I don’t know the year of issue of this coin, how rare it is. The similar coins I found during the internet search indicated catalog number AB-622, which probably La Moneda Hispanica (A. Burgos) number 622.
Unfortunately, I don’t have this book. I’ll be appreciate for any information about this coin.

You find some in acsearch:
https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?term=carteia+*MARC*+-dolphin+-contram*+-large&category=1&lot=&thesaurus=1&images=1&en=1&de=1&fr=1&it=1&es=1&ot=1&currency=usd&order=1

There you find some more references, but in the books of Alvarez Burgos and also in Villaronga you only find listings of coins with descriptions, but not more.
I don't have acces to L. Villaronga and J. Benages. Ancient Coinage of the Iberian Peninsula. Barcelona. 2011, perhaps there is more information.

But there is a whole book about these coins, with your coin type even on the title, by Francisca Chaves Tristán, "Las monedas hispano-romanas de Carteia", Barcelona 1979:
https://www.academia.edu/38986370/Las_monedas_hispano_romana_de_Carteia
perhaps you can somehow get access to that.

I just found an article by Juan Sebastián Hernández Fernández, "Tito Livio XLIII, 3 y 10s nomina de 10s magistrados monetales de Carteia", Faventia 16/2, 1994, 83-109, where the moneyers of Carteia seem to be discussed, L. MARCI is mentioned:

Perhaps this helps  :).

edit:
I found another article by María Paz García-Bellido and C. Blázquez, "Formas y usos de las magistraturas en las monedas hispánicas", 1995, where L. Marcius is mentioned:

Hello.
Thank you very much for your info. I'll try to work on books you referring to. Unfortunately the book "Las monedas_hispano_romana_de_Carteia " shows only title and a couple pages during download and another "magistrados monetales de Carteia" I have to translate from Spanish.
But still it's something. Thank you again.

"... Unfortunately the book "Las monedas_hispano_romana_de_Carteia " shows only title and a couple pages ..."
That's why I wrote "perhaps you can somehow get access to that"  :).

"... and another "magistrados monetales de Carteia" I have to translate from Spanish ..."
Both of the articles I linked are in Spanish, as most articles about coins minted in Spain are  :). You can use Google translate or DeepL (https://www.deepl.com/translator), I prefer the last one.

Hi.
Thanks. I translated some info from books you referred and a few similar articles, but unfortunately they don't have much more info. Possibly it's not available at all. Sometimes a white spots in history remained forever. I'll try to discover more info about this and the similar issues.
Thank you very much for your participation in this research.
