Harold 1, with what looks like the remains of a jewellery mount ?

Hard to tell authenticity from the photo, its a bit grainy. Style seems OK (but the coin does seem a bit thick - how much does it weigh?), will see if I can find a die match when back home

Regards

Merinda

Hi and thanks for posting.

Looks like:

North 803, Harold Harefoot (1038-1040AD), WULFWINE/WALLINGFORD

+HAROLD REX
+PVLPIIN_O_PELI (though could be +PVLPII_MO_PELI)

It was mounted to show the reverse, probably for the cross though who knows if they liked the Wallingford and/or Wulfwine connection?

Brgds & HNY!

Alex

NB. from EMC:

Mint: Wallingford (PELI), moneyer: Wulfwine (PVLPIINE).
