I completed the upload of coins of the Severan family for the city of Nikopolis ad Istrum so far.

Maybe someone is interested what i assembled over the years.

If the coppermine database is sorted by title (as intended) Nikopolis starts here:

Title-sorting criteria for this album are:

1st: city (in Moesia of course),
2nd year (as far as we know),
3rd name,
4th denomination (alphabetically),
5th Pick/AMNG number (if available).

A truly excellent collection that has something of interest for everyone! I particularly recommend the Thracian/Moesian groups and Republican. Well done Arminius!

The Ptolemaics don't do it for me, but the Punic Gallery sure was nice! As a matter of fact I just got lost in your gallery for 15 minutes with plans on returning when I have more time!

For those interested in late Roman coins: I completed the upload of my LRBCs of the Rome mint from the era of Constantine´s sons to the Ostrogoths.

Nothing spectacular there but as a collector i was pleased detecting some issues not listed in RIC (posted in a different thread "My unlisted Follis variant finds" under Ancient coins discussions "Roman Coins").

As the album contains the whole Roman empire as far as i occasionally uploaded them some coins of the other mints are also there.

Some day i will comlete the other eras of this mint and add the other mints step by step. But that´s a very time consuming task.

I really like your gallery. As a matter of fact, my resolution for 2011 is to catalog and organize ALL of my coins (I have at least 100 that are just sitting around waiting to be ID'd and cataloged, some of which have been waiting for years! lol), and your gallery is always an inspiration/prod for me to do so. I figure that my wife will appreciate it as well as I plan on buying NOTHING until I am done! (I am gonna do my best to not even LOOK at a catalog or sales site until I am done! Otherwise...you know what will happen! lol)

Apparently one of them an unlisted plus new reverse type for Commodus / Aizanis: Statue of Artemis Ephesia in the central archway of a tetrastyle temple.

I've always enjoyed very much looking at other users' galleries - and Arminius' is a real feast for the eyes!

Next year, when I retire from teaching, I hope to have the time to photograph my collection and post it in a gallery - mainly early Tetrarchy (Diocletian to 307 - I end with the pre-first-reduction issues of Constantine as caesar) and later AE1s (Julian, Jovian, Valentinian and Valens).

oh yes, very interested indeed!

this is a great example of a federal drachm from Taras. they are more usually seen struck from old or corroded dies, and it's hard to find a well-centered piece at a decent price. you've managed to pick up a very nice specimen... congratulations!

i´m back from a fishing tour in the endless waters of modern world coins - they are also interesting!

One of my few ancients additions :

Constantius II, Lugdnum (Lyon) mint, officina 1, 348-350 AD.,
Æ2 (23-24 mm / 5,17 g),
Obv.: D N CONSTAN - TIVS P F AVG , rosette-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Constantius r. (RIC legend and bust type D4) - buste diadémé, drapé et cuirassé a droite.
Rev.: FEL TEMP - REPARATIO / P LG , emperor in militairy dress standing l. on galley, holding phoenix on globe and leaning on labarum with {PX} -monogram on the banner; behind in the stern sits Victory, steering the ship - Constance debout à gauche, sur une galère, portant un phoenix, et tenant un labarum, une victoire à droite tiens le gouvernail, P LG à l’exergue.
