Thanks Joe (and thanks for providing the site to share them on!)

And thanks Pekka as well. I'd definitely crop photos if I was uploading for identification or help with a suspected fake etc. But for the purposes of my gallery I am of a slightly different mind - I shoot most coin photos from the same height/zoom and then process them using the same template without cropping the template or adjusting the coin size up (I will scale coins that are larger than the template down of course) . That means with most coins in my gallery looking at the images gives an immediate and reasonably accurate impression of the relative size of each coin which I personally feel is a plus for an online gallery which (unsurprisingly) otherwise lacks a lot of the amenity of handling the coins in person. Eg. with these tiny coins the size is (to my way of thinking at least) part of the charm of the coin that I want to capture.

I understand if you disagree with the approach as close cropping has it's advantages too, (in which case best not to look at this recent upload - Mysia, Kyzikos AR Hemiobol - my smallest coin   ;) https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-155466)

Other recent uploads:

Pontos, Amisos Æ21 https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-155350
Troas, Birytis Æ11 https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-155433
Apamea, Phrygia Æ15 https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-155467

And with this update, that brings to an end my collection of very small Greek coins. The next update will be back to more reasonably sized coinage :)

It seems I was getting a little ahead of myself. In my defence the small ones are easily overlooked.

A reasonably big update today with the majority of the balance of my Kushan, Indo-Scythian, and Indo-Greek coins. I haven't been making a habit of posting images with these updates but have included a couple below as we don't often see a lot of coins from this part of the world here:

It's been a while but I've finally managed to find the time and motivation to continue uploading the collection - nothing new in terms of aquisitions here, and there won't be for a while, I'm years behind in documenting these!

RL,

Nice coins. I especially like Gallienus’ zoo series. I agree with you about him being underrated. With everything that was going on in the empire at the time, in my opinion he made a very valiant effort.

Thanks Tracy

I've been slowly plugging away with further uploads. Recent progress:

Claudius II Gothicus Antoninianus, Fides reverse
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=170577

Quintillus Antoninianus, Providentia reverse
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=170578

Aurelian with Vaballathus Antoninianus

Probus Potin Tetradrachm, Alexandria
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=170620

Claudius II Gothicus Tetradrachm, Alexandria & George V Farthing
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=170621

I'd love to know more about the provenance of this one - I brought it from a local seller. Given the age of the farthing and as New Zealand troops served in Egypt in WW1 my personal theory is it was a souvenir from a WW1 veteran, but I just don't know. The vendor didn't have any information.

Probus antoninianus, Securitas reverse

Diocletian, AE Follis. Genius reverse

Carausius Antoninianus, Pax reverse

Allectus Quinarius, Galley - might need to reshoot this one, the little white spot on the reverse is fluff or something  :-[
