Title: Caracalla Denarius RIC 30b- fake?
Post by: Bartosz A on August 10, 2009, 02:55:59 pm
Dear Forvm Members,

what is your opinion about the following denarius of young Caracalla:
Obv. ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS, laureate, draped & cuirassed bust right;
Rev. PONTIF TR P III, Sol standing right, head left, with orb & scepter
Weight: 1.95g
Its style (especialy Caracalla's face) seems to be a little odd...

Best regards,
Bartosz

The coin seems to be struck not cast. The only thing which worries me is the style of the obverse...
