Yet another EID MAR denarius
« on: August 25, 2008, 04:24:35 pm »
Hi all,

Brutus is up to date !!!
Below is a EID MAR denarius of high lignage  ;D
I'm proud to say it's on the french branch of a famous site  :-[ :-[
The starting price is 20 euros, quite a bargain for such a rarity, but the seller can't tell wether it's authentic or copy.

Have fun

I bet. I wonder whether it would work in a slot machine?

I am sure that there are newbies who do not understand the fakery here.  If authentic , this coin would be worth $10,000+, however it is a known replica, of likely Bulgarian origin
here is an image from the fakes reports

Here is the report

Cliff, that's a rather conservative estimate! I have recently seen genuine Eid Mar denarii at over $100,000.. in fact, one is currently being auctioned with an estimate of CHF 125,000. If only one could indeed find them on **** for 20 yipyaps!

Trajan, you are correct.  However this one sold for $335,281 + 15% = $385,573, in 2/2008

Ah yes, I remember that one.. silly of me. Vastly overpriced in my opinion, but then they are scarce and desirable enough to command whatever price an auctioneer cares to place on them.

Desirability is the key. Supply and demand. Oriental coins of equal or greater rarity are frequently available for less than the price of a tank of gasoline. Of course the way things are going with the price of oil, this may soon be true of Eid Mar denarii as well...  :o
