If you found it at an auction, I assume there was more information about it than you have provided. We ask that you provide ALL the information you have about the coin. (Only the coin, not the seller.)

Do you expect our members to compare this coin with ALL Syracuse tets, or perhaps only the actual same type?

Here's all the information that I have about this coin.

Sicily, Syracuse AR Tetradrachm. Time of Gelon I, circa 485-480 BC.
Charioteer, holding kentron and reins, driving walking quadriga right; above, Nike flying to right, crowning horses
R. /  Head of Arethusa right, wearing earring, necklace and headband, her hair tied in a krobylos.
Weight: 17.2g

I'm not a Syracuse Tet expert, but I would not believe that is writing in exergue.  That looks like normal strike striation to me.

Why is it “very suspicious”?  I think it looks totally normal.

Yes, I removed the photos out of respect to the auction house. I've had the chance to inspect the coin in hand and it's genuine without a doubt!

Do not remove photos here. You need to have respect for us. You have now made this thread worthless to anyone who wants to learn. If you remove another photo or "close" another thread, your account will be deleted.
