Finding other resources online
« on: December 11, 2021, 07:27:33 am »
A number of years ago I posted a coin of Septimius Severus with a Dionysus reverse on the identification site.  Recently, a comment was added to my post saying the coin was from Naxos, Cyclades.  Online, I could find only a single image, which was on Wildwinds and is the coin of the individual who responded to my post.  That coin certainly is the same as mine, and both are in similar extremely worn condition.  My question:  where canI get additional supporting information from the references that are cited on Wildwinds?  Those are Paris 322; Boutin 2457-2460; Le Quéré 106; Chaix 309; Mionnet Supp IV, 237.  I'm striking out on everything!  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I've included the photo from my original identification request post.  Thanks much.

Thank you!  That's a good start.

Helvetica did post the following in the tread dealing with your particular coin type earlier this year:

Enora's work can be downloaded as a pdf here quite legally:
https://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-01011581

The link is to a reference dealing with Naxos among the other islands in the Cyclades.

Cheers,

Notice that in your original post Paris; Boutin, Chaix, and Mionnet automatically changed to blue text. Blue text indicates a link to more information is available. Some references are available online and, if so, there is usually a link on the NumisWiki page.
