Twelve Caesars completed but not finished
« on: October 13, 2015, 01:13:13 pm »
I am very happy to have collected coins of the 12 Caesars. The title simply means that while my goal was to collect all in silver there is one lonely copper As of Augustus. I started this project in April and could not have gathered the coins I did without the kindness and support of many individuals including members of this forum. I just purchased the final 2, denarii of Titus and Domitian, from Forvm (thank you Joe).

I am very excited to have put this together. Please see my gallery (link in my signature) for pictures of the 12.

Congrats! that's a nice gallery you've put together. I recognized many of those coins from my wishful perusing of various dealer sites.

What's next? 12 Caesars in bronze? Upgrading current examples. All emperors?

Thanks @Ickster for the kind words. I am not sure what comes next except that I shall definitely upgrade the Augustus to a denarius sometime in the near future.

There's usually quite a lot of scope to upgrade 12 Caesars sets. For instance the set below has a non-portrait Julius Caesar type, even though portrait aurei are available.

P.S. Well done!

I have replaced my As of Augustus with a silver Quinarius. I now have all 12 Caesars in silver. I really like the look of this Quinarius, The reverse really stands out and the portrait is not too bad either. Thanks for looking.

Many thanks PeteB!

I saw it today at a local coin show and had to have it. I love the way the snakes just pop off the reverse.
