I'm often told that I am dreadfully bad at accepting compliments, and I think that applies here.
I try not to post unless I feel I have something to add to a topic, but it means I don't often take the chance to let people know how valuable I find their activities here. It's no lie to say that every single nominee makes an excellent contribution and it was an honour just to be nominated in their company. And there are so many others who sadly weren't this time but are certainly deserving of it, too many to name and I know with my memory I'd always forget some names. The two perpetuae deserve special mention as always:
Curtis has just taught me so much, and I am so grateful for the time he has spent answering my questions and sharing
his expertise with all of us.
Pat, as I have said more than once, provides an extra dimension due to her past studies, and if not for her I would never have made what little steps I have to explore such interesting topics as
statues and painted vases. Thanks to you all.
Community is a great word to describe these boards, which are always so enjoyable. Somehow here we almost always avoid the unpleasantness and hostility that seems to dominate so many fora, and sadly infects some of the e-mail lists on our hobby. Credit for that has to go to Joe for
his wisdom: there is no better golden rule for a place than "be nice". Thank you very much, Joe, for providing this oasis of sanity on the internet where we can learn so much and enjoy each others company.
