too bad we are limited to only 3 votes, I owe a great gratitude to  everyone in the list plus many more who have helped me in one way or another since I started on the Ancient path. I am, as always, grateful for all your support  :)

cheers

A worthy winner indeed.
Jochen just missed out too. That would have been highly deserved.

We have selected our newest Tribunus Plebis, our Member of the Year for 2007.  The polling was close and all of our nominees deserve tribute.  The esteemed title Tribunus Plebis is distinguished both by how it is awarded and the repute of our Tribuni.  This award is an expression of sincere appreciation and admiration from our members

Congratulations Steve Minnoch, our Tribunus Plebis 2007!

Thanks on behalf of FORVM and all our members for your outstanding and unique contributions to this community.  I am pleased that we are able to recognize you for the support and education you have provided to all the collectors that share our ongoing classical numismatics discussion.  Congratulations Steve for your well deserved award!

I'm often told that I am dreadfully bad at accepting compliments, and I think that applies here.

I try not to post unless I feel I have something to add to a topic, but it means I don't often take the chance to let people know how valuable I find their activities here.  It's no lie to say that every single nominee makes an excellent contribution and it was an honour just to be nominated in their company.  And there are so many others who sadly weren't this time but are certainly deserving of it, too many to name and I know with my memory I'd always forget some names.  The two perpetuae deserve special mention as always: Curtis has just taught me so much, and I am so grateful for the time he has spent answering my questions and sharing his expertise with all of us.  Pat, as I have said more than once, provides an extra dimension due to her past studies, and if not for her I would never have made what little steps I have to explore such interesting topics as statues and painted vases.  Thanks to you all.

Community is a great word to describe these boards, which are always so enjoyable.  Somehow here we almost always avoid the unpleasantness and hostility that seems  to dominate so many fora, and sadly infects some of the e-mail lists on our hobby.  Credit for that has to go to Joe for his wisdom: there is no better golden rule for a place than "be nice".  Thank you very much, Joe, for providing this oasis of sanity on the internet where we can learn so much and enjoy each others company.

Congratulations, Steve!  You richly deserve this honor. You consistently help to nurture "this oasis of sanity on the internet where we can learn so much and enjoy each others company" that you so describe so well. Huzza! Huzza! Huzza!

I'd like to add my congratulations to Steve for his well deserved title.  I much prefer to get an honest opinion even if it is one I don't always want to hear  ;D -- so a very worthy receiptant.  Steve has also given ALOT of his time to help others - looking up attributions is not always a 20 second affair.

Also the next ones on the list were also highly deserving so fingers crossed for next year

I want to take this time to congratulate all of the nominees for this honor, and I would like to tip my hat especially to both Jochen and Martin.  I don't mean to overlook the generous and valuable contributions of all of our nominees, but these two gentlemen have been mentors, as it were. Thank you, both, for your scholarship and enthusiastic help.

I have to echo these sentiments, both gentlemen contibuting to my knowledge, as well as Mr Steve Minnoch. I cheered for Jochen to get his Perpetuus Title, but maybe next year! It was a close and exiting vote! When can we vote for the 2008 title?

My congratulations to Steve.  You have to be exceptional to get the top vote in company like this.

I see I am 11th in line for the throne (better than I expected) .. thanks to those who voted for me!
