Need help about identification...
« on: January 31, 2012, 06:57:38 pm »
This is cuper subject ,15mm high, and 15mm widht.
My opinion is that  this is some kind of fibula from early christian byzantine period, because of two cirilic letters P(П) and F (Ф).
Any help will be appreciated...
Thank you

I have never seen a similar fibula.

Can you post an image of the reverse side?

Thanks.  Unfortunately that does not help in determining what it is.

All I can say is that it does not look like any fibula I have ever seen.  I don't know them all but I own hundreds, have handled thousands and have about three dozen reference works.  The design is unknown and the stuff on the back does not look like it belongs on a fibula.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

It is from the nearby Ohrid in Macedonia.
It was found while diging for agricultural works.
After asking around,I found that in that place there was a "old Roman" vilage with church.I suppose it was late Byzantinum, because of the 2 cirilic letter.
