Need help with Arabic description
« on: February 10, 2014, 03:10:57 pm »
Hi

Hopefully there are some arabic speakers on Forum. I need help with the inscription below, which is associated with the coins below the inscription. Photo taken in the National Museum in the desert oasis city of Al Ain, emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE. There were many displays of coins at the museum, mostly individual better arabic coins with descriptions and commentary in English. This evidently uncleaned group or accumulation sparked my interest because (1) it was the only uncleaned group on display and (2) it was perhaps the only exhibit in the entire museum which had an arabic only inscription!

These coins were given to this museum by Sheik Ahmed bin ( bin or ibn = son) of Abdul Aziz Al Moubarak (Al Moubarak = family of Moubarak ) , head of judges . United Arab Emirates .

Some more of the many coin displays in the Al Ain museum. I was not expecting to see ancient coins in a small town museum in the empty desert quarter where Oman, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia meet and made famous by William Thesiger's Arabian Sands. Al Ain is a beautiful city.

I've just been in Al Ain
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Ain

One of the amusing facts I learned is that an action movie with a high-speed road chase scene was run on the mountain-climbing switchback road illustrated in one of my pics above. Apparently the chase scene was run at very slow speed (so they could get the relative positioning of the cars exactly right), and then speeded up for the movie. I'm already disillusioned by the special effects in most movies; finding that they run high speed car chases at 10 mph is yet another blow.
