Looks like a poor cast, losing many details of the arch on the reverse.

Die Bauten Roms doesn't identify this façade or arch, either.  If an arch, it seems more like a four-way one.  But puzzles like this remind us how much that was grand or at least grandiose is lost.  For example, one of the entries to the great Baths of Trajan might have resembled this.

hello,

this should be a cast because it is not recorded in the books.

do you have other signs such as the hole on the head which seems to be done by a bubble ?

... or the weight, diameter...

it can be helpful for me to have more details for the next buying time...

thanks,

sledge.

I have to agree that the coin looks like a cast with file marks on the edge to help hide the casting seam.

I recently bought a small Trajan bronze that, although with a different reverse,  looked surprisingly similar in style and surface texture to this coin.  It also had an irregular edge with file marks, as well as traces of a green patina in the deeper areas.

I was unsure about its authenticity when I got it, although it certainly looked suspicious.  Eventually, the seller listed several more Trajan coins, all of which were identical to the one I purchased from him.  That pretty much ended any doubts as to the authenticity of the coin.

My guess is that you'll see other coins like yours for sale in the near future.  I have no doubt that it is a cast fake.
