Byzantine Monogram Coins
Compiled by Howard Cole

See NumisWiki Monogram - https://www.forumancientcoins.com/numiswiki/view.asp?key=Monogram

The following is a list of Coins with Monograms found in Byzantine Coins and Their Values, by David R. Sear, published by Seaby Ltd. in 1987.  All coins with monograms are listed.  This is a modification and expansion of an earlier table that I created listing the monograms by ruler.  The coins in this table are listed by monogram number.  If any corrections or additions are needed, please post them here.

The list follows the following format: Monogram number, Ruler, Sear number, Denomination, Mint, (notes).  Not all entries may have all of the listed information.

Hello,

someone pointed me to a little fault.

Monogram 8 Sear 375 belongs to Kyzikus
Monogram 8 Sear 385 belongs to Antioch/Theoupolis

I discussed the Monogram 8 in an German Forum and added the informations from here, there a good friend pointed me to the fault.
This is caused by the irritating titels on the head of the pages in Sear.

Hi Root,

Thank you for look closely at the table.  I can't make changes here, but I hope Joe will.  I will change it in the Wiki that Joe also has it in.  Sear lists Antioch as Theoupolis, so that is what I will change it to.

Again thank you for the help.

Howard

The monograms from Denis Feissel's article have been drawn as transparent .gifs by yours truly and added to the NumisWiki's Monogram page.

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/numiswiki/view.asp?key=Monogram

They are presented in table format in the Wiki.  However, the table exceeded the character limit for posting here.  The drawings by themselves are shown below.
