Late roman
« on: October 11, 2021, 05:23:19 am »
Hi!

This coin has unfortunately no obverse legend visible anymore, however possibly because of a more untypical reverse it could be identified.

Reverse: ?NMR
Size: 14 mm
Weight: 1 g.

Thanks for any suggestion of the empress.

Regards,
Juke

It's a Divus Constantine I

I can't read the complete mintmark, but it looks like dotSMN...

That's exactly the same, also the mint is the same with SMNA. Thanks for the quick reply!

I see rather :dot: SMH and something which could be the remains of  :Greek_epsilon: = RIC VIII HERACLEA 53

I think you are correct, so it is SMH. The last letter might be 'A' or 'Є'.

Hard to say with wear and corrosion.  Not sure if the top part is rounded or corroded.  I agree  :Greek_epsilon: more likely than  :Greek_Gamma: but still unclear to me.

I haven't consulted RIC to see which are listed.....
