Thanks for all your input folks!!!!
So working on my super sluth skills here.... one 1/16
shekel compared to one half
shekel.
I believe one of these coins is REAL and one FAKE given my tutledge here on this site.
The notable differences I see here... the
style of the "FAKE" to me appears to be 'contrived'.
The suspicious one just looks like it could have been baked last week and finessed, not well representing the 2k years to be legitimate, kind of a too
good to be true.
Additional observations -
1.
PatinaThe half
shekel patina(surface) seems contrived: on the
obverse highlighting mister
Melqart in a black, while on the
reverse eagle kind of a brown shade! What!
That makes no sense that they would have different colors.
2. Orientation
When I
flip the coin over - instead of immediately showing the opposite
side it Doesn't! I have to then turn it clockwise/counter clockwise to display the image properly aligned.
Seems fishy?
3. Pits - I'm seeing pits from possible casting.
Thats about all my beginning level instincts are detecting.
Please let me know if your thoughts! Thanks!

BTW - mister suspicious
Tiberius is
still on its way(pre-forumancientcoins.com). So don't be alarmed on my next post that I've yet acquired an addition for observation. : )
