Italian or Near Eastern?
« on: February 19, 2019, 03:50:32 am »
Hi!

Just received this beautiful tiny lamp previously imported from Italy according to the customs declaration. It does not look like the Italian lamps I have seen but Near Eastern. I will greately appreciate some advice with potential location of origin and date. It will help saving time refining search for info.

Thanks!!

'Warzenlampe', made in Italy during the late 3rd - 4th centuries AD.

(Cf. BMC II, Q1423; Schäfer, 57-8; Rosenthal & Sivan, 222.)

Most certainly Italian!  ;)
