AE14 - Palm on Both Sides - Judean Coin?
Manzikert:
Hi
It is an Ummayyad fals from Jund Filastin (Palestine), unknown mint, no.567 or 570 in the Tubingen Sylloge (depending on whether you believe the caption or the image name), see http://islamiccoins.ancients.info/umayyads/filastin/567SNATFilastin.JPG
Unfortunately I don't have that volume of SNAT, so I can't tell you which number it really is :-\
Best wishes
Alan
Ecgþeow:
was the palm tree still representative of Judaea during the Islamic period?
a:
In Umayyad and Abbasid period, the palm tree or palm branch was the symbol of Al-Ramla mint.

Thank you everyone :)
For the date, I typed "Umayyad" and "Palestine" into the American Numismatic Society's search engine. Based on the stylistic changes over time I see that a rough date of ca. 80-130AH (ca. 700-750AD) can be assigned to this coin, I hope I am right in that.
At least I initially got the palm tree/Judea association right
