Justin II & Sophia Help
« on: November 26, 2007, 07:17:00 pm »
I think this coin is  Justin II & Sophia.  The coin is 20mm !/2 follis   Justin at left, Sophia at right, seated facing on double-throne, both nimbate, both holding scepter. the obv legend looks like it ends in AVEN . The rev is large K, cross above , ANNO  left, IIV right,  y type symbol below ? Help with sear # and l proper legends
appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Justin II, half follis, Theoupolis (Antioch) mint.
Sear 381, Year 7.
The inscriptions on all Antioch follis of that era, do not really make any sence, so there is no way to tell what was
originally the inscription on this particular coin.
The symbol beow K is a small "p" which is a typical identification mark for Antioch half folles
