Syracuse Tudeer 41 - fake signature
« on: June 24, 2022, 10:34:24 am »

This is the first time I have seen something like this : a fake signature of Eukleidas. A beautiful coin unfortunately ruined...

There seems to be an EY signature on the ampyx but this is not found in the standard literature (Tudeer / Fischer-Bossert, Rizzo, Evans...). What do you think ?

I think the signature is a clever forgery.

The signature certainly doesn’t look natural.  But was it tooled into an authentic coin?  That would be a real tragedy.
