wolf s head

(1/3) > >>

Vladimir B2:
period on this item and culture thanks found on Hellenistic and Illyrian field

SC:
Bronze wolf's heads are found as patter handles or the handle ends of whetstones.

However, with the small curved bit at the end this is neither.

Some fixture embedded into wood?  Chest or furniture ornament?

Vladimir B2:
thanks for your reply

Anaximander:
Nice piece. I would have described it as a handle or part of a door knocker.  When depicted on greek coins, an ox head [sorry, I said  wolf's head] is described as a 'bucranium.'

Jay GT4:
Nice piece.

I thought a Bucranium was an ox skull.
