A nice Tauromenion bronze. It's a lovely thing in the hand.

Thank you Nick and Virgil! Very nicely said and I completely agree.  I think they really are special. Have always loved bronze.

Thank you Ron and Joe! It will not be my last  :)  I have an Eryx litra - just arrived - that I'm trying to photograph. Tiny tiny thing (very similar in size to the wire money I have in my Russian collection). Hopefully I'll get a good picture posted soon.

Thank you Paul! I'm looking forward to adding more Sicily and Italy (some silver too), but this one was a super coin to get things started.

The second entry in my gallery, a recently acquired Eryx litra.

It's not the best picture, and I hope to improve it when I get a better photography setup. Aside from that, though, I love the coin!

I echo Jay's sentiment. Gotta love those crabs. Great coin.

Thank you Tracy! Yes indeed. You always remember that first coin - way back when - that draws you in to a certain period and region. For me and all of ancient Greece it was an Akragas Tetradrachm...the crab on one side and the single bird on the other. Love them. I still don't have one, but this little coin from Eryx is a step closer.

Indeed, Jay. It's a hefty thing and is quite thick (already split the flip it came in). Impressive coin, I like it.
