Please share your coins of Gaza for research

(1/2) > >>

Alex K2:
A friend of my is a researcher in Hebrew University who is working on a complete corpus of coins of Gaza under Roman rule. He will greatly appreciate if the members who have (or previously had but still have pictures) Gaza coins would share the images with him, at yoav.farhi@mail.huji.ac.il
If you wish, your collection will be mentioned in the book as a source, or you can remain anonymous. Thank you!

I did, thank you. Should he refer to 'Meepzorp collection, forumancientcoins' as a reference?
By the way, a coin in your collection described as Nicopolis is actually from Diospolis, also a very rare city. Type 8 here: https://www.academia.edu/6811913/Farhi_Y_2008_The_Coinage_of_Diospolis_Lod_in_the_Roman_Period_Israel_Numismatic_Journal_16_pp_140_165
The paper is written by the very same researcher who is now working on Gaza, our world is small ;)

I have also sent photos of my Gaza coins to Dr. Farhi recently, along with a number of lead artifacts, all surface finds from Caesarea Maritima.  These included a miniature lead amphora almost identical to one he was working on from the ancient city of Hebron.  Yoav has published so many articles, and all of them are incredibly interesting and well written.  Most of his work is available in English and can be found by searching his name on Academia.edu.  They cover a wide variety of subjects and are well worth a look!  https://huji.academia.edu/YoavFarhi

Hi AK2,

I am just reading this now because I couldn't log into Forum yesterday. I think the whole site was down.

And I had a very bust day today, so I am just reading your post now. I sleep crazy hours. This is still Tuesday night for me. I didn't go to bed yet.

For security reasons, I like to remain anonymous online. Only a handful of people know my real identity. Your suggestion sounds good to me.
