Caracalla and Get dual portrait? Advice needed...
« on: January 27, 2021, 11:04:32 am »
Hi all,

This is my maiden post on FORVM...and I'm asking for a little help in attributing a coin.
Any help is much appreciated!

I got this coin as part of a larger collection at auction recently.
Most of the coins have been very straightforward, but this one has me perplexed.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Obverse:
Dual portrait of Caracalla and Julia Domna

Reverse:
Fortuna (?) left, holding a cornucopia and patera

Weight: 11.33g
Diameter: 22mm

Mint: Marcianopolis, Moesia
Denomination: Pentassarion (?)
Metal: Bronze

Welcome to FORVM

Obverse legend reads... IOYΛIA MAICA...(Julia Maesa)

Therefore it's Elagabal with Julia Maesa

(probably a die match)
