2023 Gallery of the Year nominations
« on: March 03, 2024, 05:59:07 pm »
Well everyone, we haven't had a Gallery of the Year in some time.  There have been some requests to start it up again, so hear we go!

Please nominate a gallery for it's systematic collecting theme, specialty focus, informative write ups, artistic photography or any other reason you see fit.  Just tell us why you're nominating the gallery.

Past winners were:

The "Best Gallery of the Year" 2016: "Quadrans Gallery" was the winner.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/index.php?cat=31252

The "Best Gallery of the Year" 2017: "David Atherton and Jay GT4 (Jay Grande) Gallery" was the winner.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/index.php?cat=11162
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/index.php?cat=18312

The "Best Gallery of the Year" 2018: "Okidoki (Eric ten Brink) Gallery" was the winner.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/index.php?cat=37270

The "Best Gallery of the Year" 2019: "Barnaba6 Gallery" was the winner.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/index.php?cat=43425

The "Best Gallery of the Year" 2020: "Michael "Carausius" Davis" was the winner.
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/index.php?cat=34967

The "Best Gallery of the Year" 2021: "Schatz and Shanxi Gallery" was the winner.

We'll give it a few weeks and then start the voting.  Nominate away!

Thanks Jay.

I'll start the nominations by naming Leo, who has a great collection in general but his Taras gallery is outstanding! In both quantity and quality his is the best I've seen and I'm enviously impressed. He has been nominated before, and I think his time is due.

I'm humbled.  But I think there are far better candidates!  I'm content with one gallery of the year and I'm still not sure how I tied against David's incredible Flavian gallery.  I didn't think we needed someone to second the nomination last time, did we?

I think we did, but I'm easy. We could just go with nominations. We want more candidates anyway to bring these galleries into the light. You guys have some great coins and they need to be seen. Otherwise they might as well have stayed buried. And when they're presented well then Forvm Galleries becomes a very useful resource, and that was why we started doing this in the first place.

So take this opportunity to explore numismatic areas you might not normally frequent and nominate the gallery you think best meets these ideals.

Thanks v-drome, I never would've found this gallery had you not posted it, and it is a joy to browse.
Kamnaskires thank you, a beautiful collection!

Many of my favourites are already above, but I will add two more:

Klausklage’s amazing Trajan gallery:

Curtis JJ’s gallery, in my opinion THE gold standard for quality of write ups:

I was racking my brain to come up with some suggestions besides the gallery that immediately came to my mind, which is  *Alex's gallery. Unfortunately I don't spend nearly as much time in the galleries as I should.

All of the suggestions above are quite worthy and this would certainly be a heated contest if all were thrown in the mix.

I think that Mauseus' Carausius gallery should be added to the list.
