Samos AE
« on: May 27, 2023, 03:14:28 pm »

AE 10mm.   2.00g.

Obv: Head of Hera right.
Rev: Prow of a Samian galley right.

Unfortunately, I could not find any Samos coins bearing this combination!

The closest example is:   https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=5294389
But only the reverse is exactly the same.

Reference is appreciated.   Thank you in advance.

Hi solon,

I am not 100% certain, but I think I see " :Greek_Pi: ANT" on the reverse, below the prow. Could it be Pantikapaion?

This is always possible Meepzorp, but I think on this subject it seems very unlikely.

Because the prow style of the Samian galley seems to be quite different from the Pantakapion prows!

However, I don't want to comment definitively.  After that, I think it's the job of the experts here.
