Oil Lamp Fragment, Figure on Lion
« on: November 04, 2013, 11:05:22 am »
Hi, here is a fragment of an oil lamp from Caesarea with a figure reclining on a Lion.  I think it is Dionysos because Caesarea issued coins from Philip I to Volusian with a similar type (to right, instead of left).  However, the branch he is holding looks more like a laurel branch then a Thyrsus, so I am wondering if it is Apollo, instead.  There also appears to be a strap over his shoulder.  Any opinions would be appreciated.  V-drome.
