Hsasmonean coin ID #3
« on: December 08, 2006, 10:34:16 pm »
2 more pictured --

The first one is rather crude... possibly cannot be identified... Possibly Hendin 480?

The second one pictured SHOULD be fairly easy.... Possibly Hendin 479 again?  I really can't tell on this one....

Some of these were fairlly easy to do.... they were very nice.  If the pieces I have posted cnanot be atributed fully, I would appreciate hearing that news!

Many thanks for your help!

the second coin is Hyrcanus II over struck at Alexander Jannaius coins Hendin 478
the first one is realy hard to tell since we just see Yhodem in the last line, and mostly you can ID them with the first two lines, but the tiny script used in few coins among them Hendin 475 and since the corncopia style match that ID then I belive it is Alexander Jannaius Hendin 475 .

Once again, Salem, many thanks!

The overstruck piece is interesting... I had not considered that; but I DID wonder why therre appeared to be some items that "didn not belong" there!

The other piece... yes, I can see your reasoning here... the small letters are a definite tip!

Many, many thanks!
