Interesting coin.
Great big blob in the
legend on the
obverse. Any other signs it may have been
cast? Edges?
Given that it was under
weight, I wondered if it might be a
contemporary cast imitation and perhaps made with non-matching coins used for the two sides of the mould. This is a frequent phenomenon with the
terra cotta stacked molds used extensively in late
Roman era
Egypt, but I don't know for sure what mould techniques were used with first century imitations in the
West.
