Rings VII, XLII, XLVII

(1/1)

Rugser:
They are these rings of the legionarius?
VII ; XLII ; XLVII   ??? ???
Every comment will be appreciated.
Thanks

Akropolis:
All definitely Roman in shape, and I can think of no other possible explanation than legionary affiliation for those Roman numerals.

SC:
The only problem is that there were never any legions numbered above XXX (XXX Ulpia Victrix under Trajan and an earlier XXX under Caesar I think).  I have never seen the number for a Cohort or a cavalry Ala higher than XXXII either.  So I think you will have to look for another explanation.
