Ancient World from 100 - 1 BC
« on: February 18, 2022, 12:23:38 am »
I thought these three maps are interesting, if not perhaps as detailed as I would like, but the evolution from 100 to 1 BC is interesting to see. I reduced file and sizes to meet upload requirements, so I hope that they are readable. Turns out I also had to cut the maps in half to get file sizes in line, so I cut out Americas/southern hemisphere.

-Map at 100 BC
-Map at 50 BC
-Map at 1 AD

Cheers,
Virgil

Maps of the Ancient World on FORVM is just like the Fake Coin Reports and Members' Gallery. Members can upload maps (if they are in the public domain).

Joe,
Sorry, but I see no way to upload anything to the Ancient Maps pages. I think I have actually tried before because I thought it was like the Numiswiki. If there is a way, I need some help. Searching and looking at various pages showed me no upload options.

Thanks and sorry if this is obvious and I am just missing it.

I have a different screen than everyone else, so I am not exactly sure what you see. It is not like NumisWiki, but it is like the Members' Gallery and Fake Coin Reports. You should see Upload file in a menu just below the header.

Joe,
I see an "upload file" option in Fake Coin Reports and Members Gallery. There is none on the Maps page. I am logged in. Other options are there in that menu, but not Upload. I recall trying to upload a different map in the past and couldn't do it.

Thanks,
Virgil

OK, I will have to look into why the upload option is not there. Thanks.

Don't you need to create a new topic in order to upload images?

Not in the Maps of the Ancient World. It is a gallery, not a NumisWiki page.

It’s amazing how the world changes. I do everything possible to engage with the ancient world by researching the history behind my coins and watching documentaries and movies about the periods. There’s much more to ancient coins than just simply collecting them. I remember watching the fictional Netflix series “Barbarians” about the events during the Roman Empire's occupation of Germania. I felt saddened when Varus, all hope lost, was left with no choice but to impale himself on his own sword after being outsmarted by Arminius in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest at Kalkriese.
