Can anybody identify this huge coin?
« on: September 26, 2022, 10:41:40 am »
My great uncle has an import/export business in the late 1940s and one customer, who was an Italian soldier, didnt have enough money to pay for the transport of his belongings to Mexico.  So he paid with a box that contained a bunch of Nazi memorabilia and this coin.

I found the box as we cleared his house which is being demolished.

Anybody know what it is?

In the description it says:

Paduans and Copies
Fantasy Æ Cast Paduan Medallion.

Does that mean the one being auctioned is a copy and not authentic?

It is a fantasy piece and they all appear to be cast as can be seen from the two examples (same shape and wear).

Yes, it is a modern product and not ancient and there is no ancient coin looking like it (therefore called a fantasy piece) :(.
