Well the first of my treasures I managed to acquire from the Weise collection that's being liquidated over a series of auctions arrived. To be frank, I paid DEARLY for these. One of these was the most expensive denarius I have ever purchased (!). All the rare and high condition coins from this collection are selling for crazy/stupid prices, but to be frank, there were coins I bid on that I had never seen for sale before that I may never see for sale again. I wish I had snagged more than I did (!) and I've grabbed 5 of them now... (3 not yet photographed).
First up is a coin I've been trying to find since I learned of its existence in 2020 when I read this necro-thread:
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=37595.0I don't really collect Caracalla or Geta (apart from a very few examples), but I do aspire to own all the Septimius Severus possible issues of the INDVLGENTIA IN CARTH series of coins. I long ago acquired the 2 easiest versions (RIC 266 and 266var - the VERY common version with IN CARTH in exergue where Dea Caelestis carries a screptre and thunderbolt, both looking right and facing).
After 4 years of literally looking every week for the drum variant, I FINALLY found one in high condition actually for sale (at auction). This is the slightly rarer facing version of RIC 267a where Dea Caelestis holds a sceptre and drum. SO relieved to have finally snagged this variant!!

There were 3 of these in Reka Devnia, but considering how long it took to find this one and the price I had to pay for it... I'm thinking it's rarer than the RIC rating of "scarce" or the RD tally of 3.
Next up was another really tough find. RIC 269 - Septimius Severus on horseback right brandishing his javelin at a fallen foe. This one is an RIC "rare" and there was only 1 (!) in Reka Devnia. Another expensive coin (sadly). And though the condition is a little less than the indulgentia coin above, finding this one in ANY condition is... challenging. I love all the Severan equestrian issues, and this is one of the hardest ones to acquire - hence it being a grail for me
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=187100let me know what you guys think! Anyone else acquire anything from the Weise collection sell-off?
