This is a
denarius of
Commodus with a bare chest seen by half. I also suspect there is also an
aegis with snakes, but there could be a fold of drapery, it is not so clear. A better specimen is needed to see what it is. Your ideas will be appreciated.
Generally, heroic
bust is very
rare for
Commodus denarii. Three were several
rare issues with heroic
bust seen from front by half during TR P XI/IMP
VII - TR P XII/IMP
VIII. But this is TR P VIII/IMP VI, which is out of system.
