Rare Tranquillina?
(1/1)
VOTman:
This coin isn't much to look at but it seems to be rare.
I received this bronze coin in an inexpensive bulk lot...
Obverse Inscription: ϹΑΒ ΤΡΑΝΚΥΛΛƐΙΝΑΝ ΑΥΓΟΥ ϹƐ
Obverse Design: Diademed and draped bust of Tranquillina, r., crescent at shoulders
Reverse Inscription: ΛΥΡΒƐΙΤΩΝ
Reverse Design: Artemis standing r., quiver at shoulder, holding arrow and bow
24mm / 8.6g.
Its ID is RPC VII.2 #66003
RPC lists a total of just one known copy. That coin’s condition is XF versus mine which is “ugh”. Not only is this coin’s Tranquillina portrait rare, but its type is even more so! I'm happy.
Blindado:
A cheap rarity is a thrill! It's like having a Stradivarius with termites, however.
VOTman:
The world is a beautiful place..., warts and all.
