Post by: Peter L on July 26, 2017, 09:18:01 am
Dear colleagues

Please can you help me with identification this medal
In my opinion is it the medal from the Hannibal era (period), about 200 years B.C.
Material: silver-plated bronze?? Avers gold-plated??
Weight:538 gram
Dimension: 12 cm with suspension
Origin: Granada, Spain
Unfortunately incorrectly (unprofessional) cleaned - damaged patina.
Rear leg of the elephant (on the right) is with at least 2 stamps (probably with 4 stamps)
2 stamps is with head of the left + monarch sitting on the throne on the left (with lance (spear)  +  a child??)
2 stamps unidentified image
Can you provide more information?? Is it original??
Thank you for your help and willingness.
Very best regards Peter
