Real barbaric or modern fake?
« on: March 17, 2019, 07:18:09 pm »
Hello,

I dont like the patina of those coins. Wich is same than many modern fakes of low quality. The weight of the three coins are: 2.52 grs, 1.75 grs and 2.01 grs.

Do you know if the coins were found together or in the vicinity of each other ?

If the coins were found over a wide radius, I would also find it odd that they have the same patina. Possible candidate for artificial patination ?

Typical late official AE4s, I don't see any problem with them. These surfaces are typical of coins from a large group, probably from the East (dry conditions : Near East, Egypt, ...).

The seller said that the three coins were found together.... but in other hand, there was many fakes on his lot...thats why i asked for those coins.
