CARIAN ISLANDS. Rhodes. Ca. 188-125 BC. AR drachm (15mm, 11h). NGC XF★ , Fine Style. Plinthophoric series, Anaxidicus, magistrate. Radiate head of Helios right / ANAΞIΔIΚOΣ, rose with bud to right; hook to left, P-O flanking bloom, all within incuse square. BMC 246.

IONIA. Ephesus. Ca. 600-550 BC. EL third-stater or trite (13mm, 4.67 gm). NGC Fine 3/5 - 4/5. 'Primitive' bee, viewed from above / Two incuse squares of differing size, side by side, with rough interior surfaces. Karwiese Series II.1, Type 1.

Congrats Mark !!

I was following that piece, but earlier in the day was successful on a piece for my US Colonial collection from a Stack's online auction so I had to let it go.  Glad you got it!

There has been a noticeable increase in the number of those "archaic bee" style trites coming up for sale/auction recently, all with the same surface characteristics and planchet fabric.  I have to assume that a hoard was found and is being dispersed via various auction outlets.
