Excavations at Berenike find The Buddha

Researchers have discovered a two-foot-tall statuette of Buddha in the ancient Egyptian port city of Berenike. It is made from Mediterranean marble but stylistically is clearly Indo-Greek.

More evidence of how common Indian Ocean trade was.

Interestingly, with the rayed-halo this Buddha could easily do double duty as Helios/Sol/Apollo, etc.
