Title: 2010 Member of the Year poll!
Post by: Joe Sermarini on January 17, 2011, 09:45:56 am
Here is our 2010 Member of the Year poll! Members can vote for up to 3 people from the list. Tribunus Plebis (male) or Tribuna Plebis (female) is awarded to our Classical Numismatics Discussion Board Member of the Year. Polls will close on 31 January 2011.

I would like to congratulate the nominees and thank them for their contribution to this community.

*Lars Rutten (Pscipio) is eligible for Tribunus Plebis Perpetuus. If he receives the highest number of votes he will be awarded Perpetuus status and the member with the second highest number of votes will be selected as member of the year and awarded the title Tribunus Plebis (male) or Tribuna Plebis (female).

Good luck !

Only one week to go.

If you read Forvm enough to have formed an opinion about whose contributions are most interesting and most helpful, please vote!

I hope this isn't too a silly question, but why isn't the illustrious curtisclay a nominee?
I have set a permanent search for his highly informative and detailed posts.

Walter,

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you appreciate my contributions to Forvm.

Apparently you missed Joe Sermarini's nomination announcement, which answers your question, so I repeat it here:

"Please nominate your selection for our 2010 Member of the Year, who will be awarded the title Tribunus Plebis (male) or Tribuna Plebis (female). Nominations will close on 15 January.

"Please NOMINATE OR SECOND ONLY ONE PERSON for whom you actually intend to vote.

"Curtis Clay, Patricia Lawrence, and Hans-Joachim Hoeft (Jochen) have already been awarded Perpetuus status for selection as member of the year twice. They are no longer eligible for nomination since they are already Tribunes of the People for Life!

"To be eligible, the member must:
- Have been a member the entire year.
- Be one of the top 50 posters (currently that means more than 980 posts).
- Either hold one or more of the other titles, or serve as a moderator.

"Only one Tribunus or Tribuna Plebis will be elected each year. Polling will begin after the nominations are complete. A member that is elected twice will be designated Tribunus Plebis Perpetuus (male) or Tribuna Plebis Perpetua (female) and will be excluded from future election because it is unnecessary. When a Tribunus Plebis Perpetuus (male) or Tribuna Plebis Perpetua (female) is selected, the member with the second highest number of votes will be selected as member of the year and awarded the title Tribunus Plebis (male) or Tribuna Plebis (female).

"Our Tribunus Plebis and Tribuna Plebis to date:
Lars Rutten (Pscipio) - Tribunus Plebis 2009
Hans-Joachim Hoeft (Jochen) - Tribunus Plebis Perpetuus (2009 & 2010)
Martin Griffiths (maridvnvm) - Tribunus Plebis 2008
Steve Minnoch - Tribunus Plebis 2007
Patricia Lawrence - Tribuna Plebis Perpetua (2006 & 2005)
Curtis Clay - Tribunus Plebis Perpetuus (2005 & 2004)
Dane Kurth (Helvetica) - Tribuna Plebis 2003"

If we didn't have the lifetime "Perpetuus" designation, Curtis might be selected every year. :)

There seems to have been launched a campaign for one of the candidates! Am I right?

We can found a party for each candidate and then start a propaganda campaign against each other.  ;D

Curtis and Joe,
Yes, I did miss Joe's original post.
I saw the poll post, but not the other.
I understand matters better now.
Mea culpa. Good luck to everyone.

I'm really pleased that one of the candidates that I voted for is currently in first place to win :)
I'm also pleased to see that he could only ever get chosen twice. (Warning Bad joke ahead!)  After all, I wouldn't want to think that I would be voting for a 3rd Reich!  ;D

Hi,

it seems, that I have no possibility to vote: I just see a list with names (archivum, areich, antvwala, Pscipio*, Robert_Brenchley, David Atherton, casata137) ... but no buttons to click. Are there any restrictions I should know?

I would say because you only have three posts.  I think you have to have been active X amount to vote on polls.

Btw, my three people are in the lead :)

Now everything seems to be allright - thank you. And it's true: I don't write. English reading is ok for me - but writing (or talking) is terrible: Readers will laugh ... or cry and run.  ::)

We've got lots of people here with poor English. Nobody's going to laugh at you for that.

Last day to vote!

As a polling place officer in my precinct, I'm always appalled by the low percentage of people voting relative to the number of registered voters. Typical in my precinct is 7%-8% of the registered voters casting a vote.

While our hobby is just that, a hobby, still, I get depressed when I see that less that 2% of the entire population of FORVM thought enough to spend 1 or 2 minutes to cast their vote.

Come on, people, CAST YOUR VOTE!

Dear friends of the FAC:
ended the race and I got an unexpected third place!
I thank the staff of the FAC that he wanted included my name in the candidates. I'm conscious that in this way they wanted to reward the enthusiasm and the continuity of my participation in the forum, as my numismatic expertise is scarce and limited to some specific topics, very circumscribed. This nomination has honored me.
I thank all those who supported me, and showed that they like for my person, although I am a rather controversial and "difficult man". Thank you!
I  congratulate the winners, and Pscipio per unit area, for their deserved victory. I also congratulate Robert_Brenchley, David Atherton, Archivum and casata, because they all deserve much more numismatic myself, regardless of votes obtained.
W the FAC and that it can follow in the future to be a valuable guide for all numismatic investigators and collectors!
Again thanks to everyone.

Antvwala

Cordial congratulations to Andreas and all other participants of this poll. Andreas deserves this title legitimately because he is one of the most active and helpful members of our FORVM and his knowledge is not limited on only one area but widely spread. And he deserves the title too because of his frank and direct kind of posting.

Kudos to Andreas for winning the title of FORVM's MVP this year! Congratulations!

This was a great turnout in voter participation. I hope the same excitement will carry over into the FORVM website award polls, which are now open. Please visit the Website Awards section to cast your vote in the three websites which have been nominated.

Also, congrats to all the nominees for member of the year. All are well deserving!

Regards,
Danny

Thank you all for this unexpected honour, though I have now had some time to get used to it. As always, others deserve it just as much and more and as far as knowledge goes there are many here I can't hold a candle to.
I will try to not let it go to my head, thanks a lot!  ;D
